Sharing the insights I’ve uncovered about design and strategy is a not-so-secret passion of mine. The design industry is constantly changing, growing, and redefining itself and I’d love to share what my more than 25 years in the field thinks about that with you!

I thought I’d be here for 6 months…

Hello

Today marks three years since I joined Summer Health.

I didn’t plan on staying this long. Most of my career has been shaped by short stints, client projects, and a steady rhythm of change. But something about this one was different.

The work challenges me, but in a different rhythm than consulting. The mission adds a layer of meaning that shapes even small decisions. And the team? It’s one of the most engaged and collaborative I’ve worked with—not better than past teams, just built differently.

What’s shifted isn’t the quality of the work, but the context it lives in. And that context has made this chapter feel especially meaningful.

I wrote a short post reflecting on what’s kept me here, what’s changed, and why “staying” doesn’t mean standing still.

Talk again soon,

Anton

P.S. I’ve noticed a lot of new faces on the list since the last update—especially proud to see so many new subscribers from across Africa. Welcome! Feel free to hit reply anytime—always happy to chat or answer questions.

  2. Brian Lovin on why designers need to be less “nice” as founders
  3. Why Design Matters: Lessons from Stripe, Lyft and Airbnb
  4. Becoming an AI-ready Designer: Mindset (Pt. 5)
  5. This quote from James Clear:

"Three qualities that have nothing to do with talent or intelligence, but can make a dramatic impact on your results:

  • Cheerful. You are pleasant to work with and generally raise the level of energy in the room.
  • Accountable. You feel personally responsible for what you want to accomplish. It is not someone else's job. It's your job.
  • Adaptable. You can find alternate paths to success. You don't need things to be a certain way to be happy.

You’re not broken. You’re just stuck.

If design feels like a grind lately—not fun, just survival—you’re not alone. You’re not broken. Just stuck. Coaching helps you get moving again. No pep talk. Just honest conversation to reconnect with what matters.

If that sounds like what you need, let’s talk.
